Before he was known as Gic, Jeromy Gica was known as Young J., a rapper/musician from Philadelphia, PA who has been writing rhymes since late 2007. But it wasn't until Summer 2008 when he met up with Cazzie Jetson to record songs together. Together they are a part of The Purple Heart Gentlemen, a group that consists of a total of 7 artists. While working with Cazzie Jetson and other PHG artists, Young J. has been laying down tracks for his first mixtape "How To Survive Fallout Vol. 2: Chea! Young J.!!" (Volume 1 was Cazzie Jetson's mixtape).
In January 2010, both Cazzie Jetson & Young J. released their first albums. Young J.'s first album "First & Foremost" was released on January 11, 2010 (01.11.10). In April 2010, Young J. changed his name To Gic. In June 25th 2010, Gic releases The "Love Or Suicide EP" under his alter Ego "J.Young."
After the release Of Gic's EP & Cazzie Jetson's mixtape "III: The Final Purprint", Gic went on a vacation to the Philippines to visit his extended family and to take a break from the stress back home in Philadelphia after suffering a breakup from his girlfriend of 1.5 years. During his stay he continued to write rhymes which resulted in the release of a mixtape late August 2010 called "All Gic Shxt." It was part of a trilogy series of mixtapes which ended as "All Gic Sh(iii)t" in May 2011. Between August and May, he also did features for other artists such as Snap of 2Cocky2Care ENT, Shep of S2G (Strangers 2 The Game) as well as his labelmate Cazzie Jetson, and eventually ended up being featured on Cazzie's "Son Of My Mother" album released in January 2011.
In 2011, after deciding to take a year off from college at East Stroudsburg University, he was working on his sophomore album release "My Journal" which was released on July 7th 2011, and spawned 3 singles ("Never Over" feat. Cazzie Jetson, "Gemini Queen", and "Party Party"). Gic then decided to release 6 select tracks off "My Journal" and released those thru the iTunes Store on July 21st 2011. The release on iTunes is known as "My Journal - EP." On July 29th 2011, Gic also landed a spot on Cazzie's Jetson's mixtape "Jetsonia" and was featured on the bonus song "We Are The Light", featuring other labelmates Hybreed & Leaf Madtic.
Late August 2011, the group decided to change their name from "The Purple Heart Gentlemen" and are now known as "purpVarsity." Gic then decided to take a break from making mixtapes & albums and to focus on working on the other artists in the group's material, as well as collaborating with other artists outside the group, and just releasing random songs a couple times a month to keep the fans busy. His third album release titled "Love Or Suicide", the follow up to his 2010 "Love Or Suicide EP", is expected to be released in Summer 2012.
